Thank you for your tremendous part in making the 2nd Annual Motorcycle “Ride For A
Cure” on June 26th such a success! To the sponsors, your donations to the silent auction
and prize drawings were appreciated very much. Community support makes a difference.
Thank you to all that came out to "Ride For A Cure".
Approximately 150 motorcycles participated in the 100 mile ride and close to 300 people
were served a pork chop supper at Robbin’s Island Park in Willmar. This year, a net of
$8,100.00 was raised at the cancer benefit ride. Supplemental funds were also available
through Thrivent Financial, to bring the total to over $9,600.00 that was raised for the
local American Cancer Society.
Many local cancer patients will benefit from these funds. “The American Cancer Society
offers a variety of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs and
concerns of those affected by cancer and their caregivers.”
On July 22nd, I was one of many cancer survivors participating in the Survivors Walk at
the “Relay For Life” event in Willmar at the Hodapp Field. This is a very emotional event
for anyone that has dealt with cancer in his or her lives. This event is to “celebrate
survivorship, remember those who lost their lives to cancer, and raise money for the fight
against cancer.”
Funds raised at the “Ride For A Cure” event are donated through the Relay For Life
event to keep the funds local and this year our event held the second highest donation
made to the Relay For Life event plus earned a second platinum corporate sponsorship
award. It is an honor to be part of an event that is helping so many and receiving such
community support!
